There was never a chance that any of the Chicago Bears' backup quarterbacks would take the reins from Caleb Williams. Not even if Williams were to play and throw three picks in every game, not even if the Bears went winless for a season.

However, there was a ton of buzz surrounding Tyson Bagent dating back to last season. The Bears loved their former undrafted free agent, and they even gave him an extension when other teams were reportedly trying to poach him.

Now, after watching him struggle mightily in consecutive weeks, the Bears may want to change their stance. If there's still someone, anyone out there who wants to get their hands on him, they should let him go while they still can.

The Bears should test the market for Tyson Bagent

Bagent has been pretty atrocious this season, for lack of a better word. He's completed 65.6 percent of his passes for 409 yards, no touchdowns, and three interceptions. He should've had at least five picks, but had multiple interceptions negated by penalties.

According to Pro Football Focus (subscription required), he's got a 22.2 percent pressure-to-sack rate, which ranks 33rd among 36 eligible quarterbacks. His average distance of target (6.6) ranks 34th, and he's got three turnover-worthy plays in three appearances (one full game).

While Case Keenum didn't do much better in the blowout loss to the Green Bay Packers, watching him lead the offense in the win over the Philadelphia Eagles was just a beauty. He can still sling the ball, and he's much better at reading and reacting to coverage.

Of course, it's hard to think any team will be impressed by Bagent's recent performances, so it's not like the Bears can get a haul for his services. That said, he's always been a backup, and as such, they were never going to land a big return.

The Bears don't need to break up their league-best quarterback room, but they could use some help on defense. Maybe flipping Bagent can help them land depth pieces to help Dennis Allen's unit, especially after another string of injuries.

Bagent had a bit of an insanity run a couple of years ago, and it may have fooled us all. Now, with all eyes on him and an opportunity to drive up his value, he proved why he went undrafted.

Are there still any takers? You can have him at a discount!
