The Chicago Bears have not decided on their starting quarterback for Week 6, so there is no telling whether Tyson Bagent will get the chance to rebound from his disappointing start against the Green Bay Packers.

Chicago Bears veteran Case Keenum supports Tyson Bagent

While Bagent struggled and was benched, his replacement, Case Keenum, had a strong sentiment to share with his teammate. Keenum’s message was that this happens to many players, and it's all about how Bagent can respond to this.

“You don’t last very long in this league if you don’t know how to get back up when you’ve had your ass kicked,” Keenum said. “That’s just the way it is. There are really good players, really good coaches, really good teams, and if you last long enough, it’s just a matter of time that you’re going to get your ass kicked.”

Keenum said he expects Bagent to bounce back.

“It’s not about that. It’s about how you respond. I expect him to respond like he knows how to. It’s adversity to learn from. It’s an opportunity to learn from your mistakes and move on and not make them again.”

Bagent threw an interception on his first drive, and it continued to go downhill from there. He finished the game 12-for-21 for 87 yards with two sacks and two interceptions.

While Keenum came in and performed a touch better, it was not significantly better. He finished 11-for-19 for 108 yards, two sacks, and one interception.

Still, Keenum has collectively been better than Bagent this year. Keenum has 355 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. His adjusted net yards per attempt is 6.2. Bagent had 409 yards, but no touchdowns and three interceptions. His ANY/A is 3.5 this season.

Still, Bagent does not have a strong record in the NFL, either. The Bears are 2-3 with him as a starter, but he has two touchdowns and nine interceptions in his NFL career. His career ANY/A was 4.1

So, the team is going to have a tough decision to make if Caleb Williams is not returning for Week 6. They chose Bagent in a preseason camp battle, but Keenum has clearly been better.

Of course, the team is likely to get Williams back either this week or next one. It will be interesting to see if Bagent gets another chance, or if this remains his perception.
