The Chicago Bears are a historic franchise looking at a Super Bowl window that appears to be far wider than much of the league. Having the tandem of Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson offers an undeniably bright future that gives the NFC contender an inside edge on the competition. With that said, there is no denying the previous years of frustration in the NFC North. This was exposed recently with NFL pundit Warren Sharp counting down the top fourth-place finishes since the 2010 season.

It doesn't come as a surprise that the Cleveland Browns finished in first being at the bottom of the AFC North in 10 seasons since 2010. However, a frustrated but expected piece of this exercise is pointing out the Bears are tied for third with seven such finishes. In truth, this doesn't come as a surprise, as Chicago has been mired in frustration prior to the arrival of the current leadership.

The Bears have gone from one of the league's most frustrated fanbases to one actively expecting their team to be in consistent NFC contention. Having a top quarterback and head coach obviously makes an incredible difference. One that Chicago is currently enjoying as they head towards a season where the expectations are a deep January playoff run.

Bears Recent Failures Highlights Reasons to be Thankful for Chicago's Current Core

Chicago is a celebrated franchise and one of the league's original teams. This offers a level of credit and respect when you look at the historic importance of the Bears. Add in the difficulty of the NFC North, and the recent streak of division losses is understandable. Still, Bears fans are obviously elated to turn the page and put behind them what has been one of the darker stretches in team history.

It isn't just the head coach and quarterback, but a stocked roster that will lean on impressive offensive talent and a strong coaching staff to repeat as division champions. There simply is no getting around just how exciting the current window is and why expectations continue to grow.

The Bears might have a recent history of struggles, but it will only make the fanbase enjoy the years ahead all the more. Chicago is set up not just to be a Super Bowl contender in the 2026 season but as long as the current quarterback and coach tandem remains in place. This makes it clear that Chicago's last-place division finishes are a thing of the past after well over a decade of frustration.
