3 Bears To Watch in the Hall of Fame Game
The Chicago Bears kick off their preseason on Thursday in Canton, Ohio, against the Houston Texans in the Hall of Fame game. However, in Tuesday's press conference, head coach Matt Eberflus confirmed that starters won't play.
Given that the Hall of Fame game is an extra preseason game, the decision to sit the starters is somewhat reasonable since there is a risk of injury.
Sitting the starters provides a chance for the backups and players fighting for a roster spot to make a name for themselves. Here are three players to keep an eye on during Thursday's preseason game.
1. Tyler Scott, WR
Tyler Scott's rookie season did not turn out how he wanted it to. Scott finished the 2023 season with 17 catches on 32 targets for 168 yards. While Scott's production wasn't great during his rookie season, he is most remembered for the dropped pass in the fourth quarter of the Week 13 game in Detroit against the Lions, which cost the Bears a victory.
Scott's costly drop against the Lions did cause some fans to fear that he had a drop issue. However, throughout the first week of training camp, Scott has shown out. His best play was a 35-yard touchdown catch from Caleb Williams in an 11-11 situational drill.
Even though Scott will be playing with backup quarterback Tyson Bagent on Thursday, his speed will be a challenge for backup defenders to keep up with. Don't be surprised if Scott puts together an electrifying preseason.
