It's been an offseason of news and moves for the Chicago Bears. General manager Ryan Poles was busy improving the roster and making sure this group was ready to take a leap this season.

The most notable addition was selecting Caleb Williams as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. The former USC standout is known as a generation prospect so the hype is through the roof.

The Bears and the Houston Texans are set to square off on Thursday in the Hall of Fame game but the news about Williams will annoy the fanbase.

Bears News: Caleb Williams Won’t Play in Hall of Fame Game

Per head coach Matt Eberflus, Williams and the starters won't play in the Hall of Fame Game. It's not a surprise that Williams isn't suiting up, as starting quarterbacks haven't played in this matchup for the past two years.

Regardless, Chicago fans have been waiting since April to see Williams take a snap. There are countless videos from practice that show Williams making superb throws but they'll have to wait a bit longer until he takes the field.

The 22-year-old believes that preseason reps are ultra-important as they approach the 2024 season so there's a great chance that he suits up on Aug. 10 against the Buffalo Bills.

One silver lining for the fans is after this matchup, they will be one step closer to the start of the regular season.

Yes, we all would have loved to see Williams sling a few passes but that time will come. And it will be here soon.
