Walker is making it difficult to answer where he stands on the current depth chart and whether or not the Bears would be wise to see exactly how much of a leap the young receiver can take. Ben Johnson's system is well suited for the way that Walker plays, and that should have a level of influence as to how many snaps Walker plays at the start of the 2026 season.

Walker finished last season with only six grabs for 87 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. What stood out about the season is that when these plays were made was often when the pressure was at its highest. The receiver can deliver in big moments, and the fact that both Johnson and quarterback Caleb Williams have seen this play out already is going to have an undeniable level of influence on where Walker lands on the depth chart.
Still, it will be interesting to watch if the receiver can finish the final week of camp and preseason strong and make his case to be in the early-season rotation. It is no longer a debate as to whether or not Walker will make the final roster, but simply how high up the depth chart he can climb.
Chicago has to be thrilled with this development after shuffling the position in the 2026 offseason and betting on their young depth. Walker is already proving this was the right decision and leaving the Bears with another difficult decision to make as the regular season draws closer.
