First Bears Veteran Breaks Silence on Shane Waldron's Exit
After weeks of inexcusable troubles on offense, the Chicago Bears fired offensive coordinator Shane Waldron on Tuesday. With Waldron fired, passing game coordinator Thomas Brown will take over as offensive coordinator.
Brown has some offensive coordinator experience after calling plays for the Carolina Panthers during the final six weeks last season. While fans should approach this change with caution, the players must have full buy-in.
On Wednesday, linebacker T.J. Edwards spoke about Brown becoming the new offensive coordinator during his appearance on the Bernstein & Harris Show on 670. The Score. Edwards said, "The dude is an absolute workhorse. He’s a hands-on guy who wants to see everything that the players are seeing, a guy who truly loves what he does. I know that he’s going to bring some juice."
Bears News: T.J Edwards Provides Encouraging Words About Thomas Brown
Although Edwards is on defense, his words about Brown mean as much as that of an offensive player. Like anyone on offense, Edwards is around every coach, including Brown, every day.
While he may not spend as much time around Brown as the offensive players, he can still feel his energy in the building and on the practice field. Moreover, Edwards spent time with Brown when he was at Wisconsin, where Brown was the running backs coach.
Edwards' strong words about Brown seem to indicate that they created a somewhat strong relationship during their time together in Wisconsin.
Even though Edwards provided a strong endorsement for Brown, fans still have every right to be skeptical this will fix the offense. Hopefully, though, Brown will at least make Bears games slightly more watchable.
