Keenan Allen Trashes Shane Waldron Immediately After Firing
The Chicago Bears are in a massive slump right now, dropping three straight games. They sit at 4-5 and fired offensive coordinator Shane Waldron on Tuesday. The offense has been lackluster, ranking 30th in total offense (277.7) and passing offense (169.6), but 24th in rushing offense (108.1). They are also averaging 19.4 points per game, which is good for 24th in the NFL.
Despite making additions in the offseason to improve the offense, the results haven't been there. Now, one day after Waldron was relieved of his duties, receiver Keenan Allen provided the harsh truth regarding Waldron's tenure.
Bears News: Keenan Allen Discusses What Went Wrong With Shane Waldron
When speaking to team reporters on Wednesday, Allen talked about what went wrong with the offense under Waldron.
"Too nice of a guy. OTAs, camp, we fell into a trap of letting things go & not holding people accountable & that’s a slippery slope. Just professionalism and doing things the right way from the beginning."
- Keenan Allen
When you read what Allen had to say about the offense, the performance on the field isn't surprising. The way you practice is how you'll play on game day. The Bears offense never seemed to have a flow and rhythm all season long.
The worst part was how Williams seemed to regress under Waldron week by week. In addition to that, Allen's production is underwhelming. He's fourth on the team in receptions (26) and receiving yards (241) with just two touchdowns.
DJ Moore has 40 catches for 398 yards and three scores this season. The leading receiver? Rome Odunze, who has 414 yards on 28 receptions.
The Bears are searching for answers on offense, and Allen seems to believe that Waldron wasn't the answer. And based on the results we've seen, can you blame him?
