Chicago Bears fans are going to have mixed feelings about this week's quarterback rankings. It was released by ESPN but determined by votes from front office execs, scouts, and coaches. This makes it clear that the ranking carries a bit more weight. With this in mind, fans will be quick to find fault in Caleb Williams being ranked 10th. It is notable that Dak Prescott, Jared Goff, and Justin Herbert are all ranked ahead of the young quarterback despite having a less exciting skill set.

Still, fans will be a bit understanding of this ranking when they look at the names atop the list and understand there is obviously a great deal of stock put into career numbers and accomplishments. It helps offset any frustration with Williams falling so low in the ranking, with the quarterback taking down the final spot.

Easing the frustration even more is the fact that Jordan Love is unranked, falling out of the top ten completely. Chicago fans will appreciate this greatly after Williams beat Love in the playoffs and in the final regular-season matchup. Chicago has had the upper hand over its hated rival since last season, and much of this is due to the presence of Williams.

It is important to be clear that this isn't to accept that the ceiling of the current Bears quarterback is as the league's 10th best starter. When Williams is at his best, the signal-caller is more than capable of being in the conversation as a top-three option at the position.

However, the counter to this is pointing out that much of the late-game magic that Williams became famous for was due to failures early in games when there was a chance to put it out of reach. This explains why the quarterback isn't higher and points to a young player who still has several levels to jump when it comes to his development.

Respected league sources actually recoginizing the Williams has already surpassed Love should be the lasting takeaway here. There is more respect for the young quarterback than for a player who had a trio of seasons to learn under Aaron Rodgers and far more time in the league than his rival.

Bears fans will enjoy watching Green Bay fans lose their collective minds over the perceived disrespect. No question, Williams and the Bears emerge as winners here, with Love being discounted and the Chicago starter getting credit while making it clear there are still improvements to be made.
