The Chicago Bears are heading into a training camp where there is an obvious level of expectation for quarterback Caleb Williams. This makes it clear that, barring any surprise struggles, the quarterback isn't going to be the story of the summer for the offense. Looking at the current construction of the roster, it becomes clear that the team's defining storyline is going to be the new battle at the receiver position.

After trading DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills, the franchise has opened the door for a new level of parity at the position. Luther Burden and Rome Odunze are the clear favorites to emerge as primary targets while the rest of the team's options are expected to battle for their standing on the depth chart. No question, there is every reason to get excited about the unknown playmakers that will be handed a chance to win a contributing role.

Zavion Thomas is obviously the biggest name that comes to mind, with the rookie speedster competing with Kalif Raymond for the third receiver role. It is expected that whichever pass catcher loses this position will be the team's fourth option, with Jahdae Walker and Scotty Miller attempting to make a push for this spot as well.

Bears Defining Offensive Storyline in Training Camp will be Battle at Receiver Position

The excitement around the team's current options at the position explains why the team was so willing to turn the page on Moore. Not only do you have depth at receiver that fans are excited to watch throughout the end of the summer, but you have a trio of talented tight ends in Colston Loveland, Cole Kmet, and Sam Roush.

This promises that the pass catchers for Williams are going to take center stage throughout training camp and into the preseason. To put it simply, there isn't anything that Williams is going to be able to prove during this phase of the season. Lofty expectations for the quarterback can only be realized in the regular season, setting up what fans hope is a deep playoff run.

With this in mind, it is clear that the offensive storyline with the most focus throughout training camp will be at the receiver position. How the depth chart begins to take shape and which pass catchers show the most chemistry with Williams throughout the summer. Huge decisions that will find exciting answers, as the Chicago front office has done a great job stacking its depth chart.
