The Chicago Bears have a handful of concerns remaining when it comes to the team's current roster. While younger pieces could prove to be answers, it wouldn't hurt to see the team shore up its depth ahead of a season with legitimate hopes of Super Bowl contention. The first waves of free agency might be long in the rearview, but there are pieces remaining that could be clear fits for the Bears and potentially influence winning.
With this in mind, let's look at three potential free agent fits that Chicago's front office should consider adding this summer. Starting with a veteran who remains well-respected and would offer the Bears defense clear upside
1. Cam Jordan
The veteran pass rusher had 10.5 sacks a season ago and 15 tackles for a loss, and yet is somehow unsigned. Jordan parting ways with the New Orleans Saints for the first time since he was drafted has to be difficult, but the veteran has made it clear he is open to playing elsewhere. Landing in Chicago makes sense based on the clear ties to Dennis Allen, and the Bears need to add to a pass rushing unit looking a bit thin.
If there is one NFC team capable of luring the defender away from the Saints, it would be Chicago. Not only do you have the ties with Allen, but there are legitimate hopes of Super Bowl contention and a clear path to playing time. This trio of reasons should be more than enough to add a player with a realistic chance of making a huge 2026 impact.
2. Bobby Wagner
Wagner is no longer as explosive as his days anchoring the Seattle defense, but remains a great leader and capable contributor. Chicago could bring in Wagner to help Allen's unit and put the veteran into a rotational role that doesn't offer the strain or expectations that aren't likely to bring out the best of the linebacker at this stage of his career.
For a young defense, the experience cannot be underrated as well as the clear production. Wagner could at least be brought in on a veteran minimum and given a chance to compete for a contributing role on a defense that could use the skillset and experience of the aging star.
3. Leonard Floyd
If the Bears want to lean on their current edge rushing depth but add a bit of insurance, Floyd makes a great deal of sense. The pass rusher isn't going to be a clear starting option, but has the experience to step into the lineup if injury strikes or a starter isn't living up to expectations. You get the experience and aren't likely to pay a high price based on the limited production.
Floyd has had a solid career and would be a great offseason reunion for a team that appears a piece or two short of having a capable pass rush. At the very least, signing Floyd helps you buy a bit of time and figure out if there are any other viable answers rostered beyond Montez Sweat.
