One of the debates defining the Chicago Bears' 2026 offseason has been where in the NFC North Caleb Williams should rank. There is no getting around the fact that Jared Goff has more playoff experience or that Jordan Love has a season throwing for over 4,000 yards. Still, looking objectively at the quarterbacks and each of their shortcomings, there is no debate that Williams is going to prove to be the better player. Already, Williams has two seasons over 3,500 passing yards, a feat that Love has yet to accomplish.
Taking this a step further, Williams has the postseason advantage, having beaten Love twice last season, with the last win coming in the wildcard round. The Bears quarterback put together clutch drive after clutch drive to will his team back, while Love appeared helpless to stop the bleeding and put together a needed drive to keep the game out of Chicago's reach.
It is only year two, and already Williams is making an undeniable case that he deserves to be ranked ahead of Love. This is due both to playoff record and production that is on pace to quickly surpass what Love offers.
Another piece of this puzzle is the fact that Love has greatly benefited from spending the first three years of his career sitting behind Aaron Rodgers. The Green Bay quarterback had time to learn from one of the league's most accomplished starters, while Williams was thrown into the fire and expected to save what was a lost franchise.
Bears Quarterback Caleb Williams Making Obvious Case to Rank Ahead of Jordan Love
Looking at the two quarterbacks objectively and understanding each respective career path, it becomes impossible to deny Williams is the more exciting player. Whether it is the late-game magic, ability to escape trouble, or the elite ability to make every needed throw, there should no longer be an argument as to who the most talented quarterback is within the NFC North.
While Love had a trio of seasons to sit back and get ready for the next step in his career, Williams stepped in and was forced to become the solution. Love was handed a winning roster, while Williams was put in a position to save a team that hadn't offered any stability at the quarterback position since Jay Cutler.
No question, Williams has had the more difficult road and has still made it a close argument, leaving no question that it is the Bears quarterback who remains the division's best and is getting ready to make this undeniable in the 2026 season.
