If there is one remaining area of defensive concern for the Chicago Bears heading into the summer, it is pass-rushing in depth. Dennis Allen recently spoke and took full responsibility for the team's lack of consistently getting to the quarterback and made it clear that this was an area of focus. While it is understandable that Allen is taking accountability as a leader, it ignores the bigger reason why the Bears weren't consistently getting to the quarterback a season ago.

This is a league run by stars, and after Montez Sweat, the Bears have extremely questionable pass-rushing depth. Leading us to look at a potential trade fit and a player who has a chance to take Chicago's pass-rushing unit to the next level. Kayvon Thibodeaux has often been a source of trade speculation this offseason and remains an obvious trade for the New York Giants.

Thibodeaux is coming off a frustrating 2025 season, offering only 2.5 sacks two years after giving New York 11.5 sacks and appearing to be the future at the position. This is the type of production that Chicago could hope to rediscover, bringing in the talented edge rusher.

Having the stability of playing within Chicago's defense for Dennis Allen should get the best out of the talented defender and give the Bears an incredible starting duo with Sweat on the opposite side. Everything about the move makes sense and helps push forward a defense that lost a number of key pieces in the 2026 offseason.

Bears Should Attempt to Land Obvious Pass-Rushing Fit in Kayvon Thibodeaux

For Thibodeaux, this should be an easy sell with Chicago being a clear upgrade as a team expected to be among the NFC's top contenders. You're leaving behind clear dysfunction in New York and giving yourself a chance to benefit from a change of scenery and earn a second contract. There simply isn't a downside if you're looking at it from the edge rusher's perspective.

Chicago's only potential issue with the move is risking draft capital when the franchise has a recent track record of hits. Paying what it would take to land the star could prove to be costly in the future, especially if the fit doesn't pan out as expected. Regardless, the Bears should reach out and see if the Giants are willing to make a move.

Landing Thibodeaux would be the perfect final offseason move and push the Bears back towards the top of Super Bowl discussions. Playing within Allen's defense in a talented defensive line group, the expectation would be 8-10 sacks and a huge impact for a team really missing a second edge rushing option. No question, it is a clear fit and something Chicago should explore in the weeks to come.
