The Chicago Bears lost some of their key guys this offseason. That included cornerback Nahshon Wright, an instrumental part of the defense that led the league in takeaways in Dennis Allen's first year in charge.

Wright picked off five passes, forced two fumbles, and recovered three. While he wasn't always a shutdown defender, his ball-hawking instincts helped him secure a one-year, $5.5 million deal with the New York Jets.

Nevertheless, he has yet to carve himself a role in Aaron Glenn's defense, and it doesn't sound like that will change any time soon. In fact, he admitted his frustration with his lack of involvement in the game, and with the November 10 trade deadline zooming in, the writing is on the wall.

The Chicago Bears need to bring back Nahshon Wright

"CB Nahshon Wright tells ESPN that he's 'definitely frustrated' by having no role on defense. Asked if he has requested a trade, he said, 'Not formally...(But) I've expressed my feelings (to the team)'"Jets insider Rich Cimini shared on X.

Shutdown corner or not, the Bears need help. Tyrique Stevenson is a lost cause, and the usually reliable Jaylon Johnson has regressed tremendously this season. Wright is familiar with the defensive system.

Wright is yet another Al Harris success story. He thrived under the Bears' DB coach's tutelage because of his close-out speed and nose for the ball, and the Bears could certainly use that type of energy.

Bears writer Brendan Sugrue also reported that Wright has told people in his inner circle that he misses the Windy City and wouldn't mind a return to Chicago. This is just a no-brainer move at this point.

Wright is on an expiring deal, so the Bears wouldn't have to give up much to get him back. Also, he's already let the team know that he's unhappy there, and with the hopeless Jets not going anywhere, there's simply no incentive to keep him around for much longer.

The Bears have already made the big move of the young trade season by adding Jeffery Simmons. So, after giving up a couple of first-round selections to bolster their defense, they might not want to give up more draft capital.

Then again, that move has also sent the right message and proven that general manager Ryan Poles is willing to go all in to get the team over the finish line this season and keep them at the top for years to come.

Maybe Wright won't be a long-term solution, and perhaps he'll leave again at the end of the season. But for now, he's probably the easiest, cheapest, and most viable plug-and-play option for this team.

Let's bring him back home.
