One continual story around the Chicago Bears since last year's selection of Colston Loveland has been whether or not the team will deal Cole Kmet. Parting ways with the veteran tight end made a level of sense when you consider the wealth of targets currently rostered. However, the trade of DJ Moore and departure of Olamide Zaccheaus in free agency heightened the importance of the pass catcher. Even if the numbers don't shoot up as expected, Kmet has made it clear that Chicago is where he wants to be.
When questioned about a lesser role, Kmet made it clear he was more interested in winning than worried about his personal numbers. The tight end clarified this even further with his comments coming via BearsMuse, talking about the coaching staff and how he feels things are going moving forward.

It is hard to imagine a more fitting response from Kmet when it comes to what his outlook and focus are moving forward. The veteran understandably values winning and getting a chance to contribute to a team playing meaningful December and January football rather than put up bigger numbers for a team that lacks Chicago's current ceiling.
Bears Can't Help but Enjoy Cole Kmet's Outlook Ahead of 2026 Season
Kmet finished the 2025 season with 347 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. The pass catcher could easily have pitched a fit based on his past production and the proven performer he has been in years past. Instead, the tight end has embraced a lesser role and is talking about how excited he is for the second season in Ben Johnson's offense.
This isn't a small feat, but it speaks to the culture that Johnson has installed and why the Bears remain a clear NFC threat. There isn't any suggestion of entitlement or frustration on a roster that appears bought in on a collective goal. It is a welcome change after years of frustrations and underwhelming performances from the historic franchise.
It is indicative of the mindset of the roster and suggests that Kmet's time with the organization isn't up just yet. This is welcome news after the franchise lost depth in the offseason and could clearly use Kmet a bit more consistently in what will be an undeniably exciting 2026 season.
