If the Chicago Bears want to make a trade deadline splash that offers a clear Super Bowl push there is no more need more glaring than edge rusher. Montez Sweat is expected to make his return, but it has remained clear that Dennis Allen is getting creative to get to the quarterback and relying on Caleb Williams and the Chicago offense keeping his pass rush fresh. With this in mind, it is time to revisit the idea of Maxx Crosby landing in Chicago.

While there remains a lot of speculation around the return of Khalil Mack, there is no denying who the better player is at this stage of their respective careers. Crosby is a game wrecker who appeared to be off the market after the Las Vegas Raiders enjoyed a surprise 3-0 start. This has promptly been followed by a four-game losing streak that has the Raiders looking very much like a team getting ready to trade away veteran pieces.

Fans are aware that Crosby can be dealt as Baltimore had a deal in place to land the star before pointing to a failed physical that kept the deal from going through. While Crosby's health was a clear question mark in the offseason, the defender's level of play through the first seven weeks of the year speaks for itself.

Crosby has 35 pressures ranking second at his position when it comes to hurrying up the quarterback. While the sack numbers have been limited, watching the defender makes it clear there is no doubt he is healthy and still has his fastball when it comes to finding ways to wreak havoc.

Bears should revisit idea of blockbuster deal for Maxx Crosby as edge rushing concerns mount

Chicago landing Crosby is a move that helps as well in a crowded NFC North where the margin for error is incredibly thin. Having Sweat and Crosby on the field together would fully unlock Allen's defense and give Chicago a chance not just to lean on the genius of Ben Johnson offensively, but to have a complete roster capable of making a Super Bowl run.

If the Raiders are going to be open for business after their latest losing streak there should be no doubt that Ryan Poles is reaching out about Crosby. At least finding out whether or not the franchise is willing to make a deal that would send the star to the opposite conference while helping brighten a future that is clearly reliant on draft picks and Fernando Mendoza.

With this in mind, it appears that dreams of adding the pass rusher are once again alive. As long as Las Vegas continues to lose it cannot be questioned that Crosby is very much going to be on the table and an elite Chicago target.
