It isn't a secret as training camp is firmly underway that the Chicago Bears have a concern at the edge rusher position. Montez Sweat is incredibly reliable, but after the established veteran, there are nothing but question marks for an established contender. This leads us to the Las Vegas Raiders and Maxx Crosby, who both appear content after a failed offseason trade to the Baltimore Ravens to simply run it back.

With this in mind, there should be enough of an opening for talks to at least begin if the Bears are willing to spend meaningful picks. The Raiders are stuck in a division with two teams that made the playoffs a season ago in the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers. Add in the presence of Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs it is incredibly difficult to believe the franchise is anywhere close to contender status. Leading us to look at a deal that should work for both sides to bring Crosby to Chicago.

Baltimore first agreed to a deal with the Raiders in exchange for two first-round selections. It makes sense that the price has regressed a bit when you factor in medical concerns and the failed trade for Crosby in the first place. It can easily structured on Chicago's side with only picks and Crosby getting a chance to step in and contribute for a team with legitimate hopes of a Super Bowl run.

The Raiders are building for the future despite opting to allow veteran Kirk Cousins the first crack as their starting quarterback. It is a young team that simply no longer fits Crosby's timeline and has already attempted to shed the veteran once over the past months.

Bears Have Obvious Offer to Make in an Attempt to Land Star Defender Maxx Crosby

Ignore the noise around the defender and whether or not the Raiders are willing to trade the star. The fact a deal almost went through to an expected AFC contender tells you all you need to know and gives the Bears a clear name to chase as we continue to move closer to the regular season.

Parting ways with picks is never easy, but it adding to the pass rush appears vital if the Bears are going to have the needed ammo to challenge the Los Angeles Rams, who are prohibitive favorites after a blockbuster offseason.

For Crosby, there is every reason to welcome this deal after finishing with only 10.0 sacks in the 2025 season. It was clear that the Raiders lack the talent to protect Crosby, with an opposing offensive line able to focus its complete efforts on stopping the pass rusher and daring someone else to beat them. The presence of Sweat provides an undeniable upgrade if the star joins the Bears and takes away this concern. No question, if the Raiders are willing to deal, the Chicago front office can't hesitate to pull the trigger.
