Even though they don't play on Sunday, Chicago Bears fans should have plenty of reasons to celebrate before the team's trip to Seattle. Their defense received a massive reinforcement, but he may not be alone.

General manager Ryan Poles pulled off the biggest trade of the season yet by acquiring superstar defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons. He had to pay a steep price, but it was the type of all-in move everyone wanted to see.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, that's not the only ace up his sleeve. On Sunday's edition of “NFL GameDay Morning,” he confirmed that the Bears are still all-in on trying to get Khalil Mack back in Chicago.

The Beas are trying to trade for Khalil Mack

“Meanwhile, the Bears may not actually be done,” Rapoport said. “ I’m told they’re still calling around. still looking on the edges of their defense. (I) wouldn’t be surprised if a Khalil Mack trade was in the (works), offering here a possible reunion for Mack and the Bears.”

This trade has been circulating as a rumor for weeks now. The Los Angeles Chargers are unlikely to make the playoffs after a dreadful start to the season, and Mack is in the final year of his contract— maybe even of his career.

Mack is more than familiar with the organization, though he wasn't there during this regime. He'd be a massive upgrade to Dennis Allen's defense, even at this point in his career, not to mention a mentor to their young pass rushers.

The Bears already bolstered the defensive line by adding the best defensive tackle in the game. Now, they can double down on that unit by trading for a human wrecking ball who has given Father Time a run for his money since taking his talents to Southern California.

They don't even need Mack to be the All-World pass rusher he was in his heyday. But with his ability to stuff the run, drop back in coverage, and go after the quarterback, Coach Allen would have a jack-of-all-trades and someone to get on the field regardless of the context.

As good as the Bears have been, they've struggled to beat winning teams under Ben Johnson's guidance. That's not all on the head coach, and the defense must also step up and keep up with their high-flying offense when they go against the cream of the crop.

While having the most talent won't guarantee a win, sometimes it just comes down to who has the better team. The Bears are stacked on offense, well-coached, and with Simmons and Mack, they can have one of the most physical defensive lines in the game this season.
