Arguably, the biggest remaining concern for the Chicago Bears is how the team is going to bring a consistent pass rush. There is a great deal of trust in Montez Sweat, with the rest of Chicago's options being unproven and younger pieces getting a chance based on the lack of depth. With this in mind, it makes sense that there has been consistent speculation throughout the offseason that the Bears could become a landing spot for veteran pass rushers Maxx Crosby or Josh Sweat. The latter has been a speculated trade option, but it is unclear if Arizona is actually willing to trade the veteran.
Sweat had 12.0 sacks in the 2025 season despite playing with an Arizona Cardinals defense featuring an underwhelming cast. It is easy to imagine what the accomplished defender might do if dropped into the defense of Dennis Allen. With that said, training camp should serve as the team's answer as to whether or not it is going to be a possibility moving forward.

The second factor in deciding on a potential chase of Sweat, is evaluating the team's current options. You've made it this deep into the year without making a notable addition. At this point, it makes more sense to look at your current options throughout training camp and early in the preseason, hoping that your trust has proven to be the correct decision.
Chicago seeing clear signs from Austin Booker of a breakout season would be reason to pause any chase of a top pass rusher until the trade deadline. Booker appears to be Chicago's best chance of finding a starring option alongside Montez Sweat.
With this in mind, there is a level of clarity as to what is ahead for the Bears and why training camp is going to serve as an answer in a potential trade chase. Chicago has one remaining weakness, and the Cardinals have a potential answer if training camp doesn't offer consistent reassurance.
