The Chicago Bears unquestionably have a wealth of talent when it comes to playmaking depth. However, it is easy to argue the franchise should still have its eyes open when looking for possible boosts. Chicago's goal isn't just contention, but making a Super Bowl run and starting a sustained level of expected contention. With this in mind, every possible upgrade should be explored including looking at the receiver position and whether or not an upgrade could be made.

Veteran Calvin Ridley makes a great deal of sense as a trade target and clearly is no longer a fit on the Titans roster. Adding Ridley allows you to shift Kalif Raymond into the fourth receiver role and have less concern about the returner being a vital part of both special teams and the Chicago offense. Ridley isn't a player that is going to demand a high volume of targets, but is an extremely capable receiver able to improve upon an already strong offensive core.

Ridley was a top target as recently as the 2024 season finishing with 1,017 receiving yards and four touchdowns in an awful Titans offense. Rewinding the clock even further to the 2020 season Ridley was with the Atlanta Falcons and offered nine touchdowns with 1,374 receiving yards.

With this in mind, the Bears would be adding a piece capable of stepping in and being a primary option if injuries struck. However, you'd still be maintaining the development of your younger weapons simply with a higher level of insurance. No question, the fit makes sense for both sides and would hand Ridley a chance to play a meaningful role for a top contender.

Bears should consider upgrading Kalif Raymond with affordable Calvin Ridley trade

Ridley isn't going to overwhelm a defense with his speed or big play ability after the catch. Where the receiver is at his best at this point in his career is route running at an elite level. It is the type of veteran presence that can have a positive impact on Rome Odunze, Luther Burden, and Zavion Thomas as they continue to grow into their respective roles.

While pass rush is likely going to be the focus, the Bears going on a Super Bowl run will be on the back of Caleb Williams and a loaded offensive roster. It would be wise for the Bears to continue to load up on this side of the ball and a trade for Ridley accomplishes just that.

It will be interesting to watch how Ryan Poles navigates the next weeks and whether or not Chicago attempts to be aggressive. Considering how loaded the NFC North has proven to be it seems a no-brainer to add to every position possible for a roster clearly developing into a Super Bowl contender.
