3 Keys to Bears Victory Over the Commanders in Week 8
The Chicago Bears travel to Northwest Stadium to face the Washington Commanders at 3:25 C.T. on Sunday.
This matchup was originally supposed to take place at noon, but because both Jayden Daniels and Caleb Williams are playing great football, the NFL flexed it to the late afternoon window. Unfortunately, Daniels's status for Sunday is in doubt after he suffered a rib injury last Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.
Despite Daniels missing most of last week's game, the Commanders still put a 40-7 beating on the Panthers. The Commanders' domination of the Panthers was led by a defense that had their best performance of the season. They held the Panthers to 184 total yards (89 passing, 95 rushing).
The defense also recorded two sacks and two interceptions. One of the interceptions was returned for a touchdown.
Offensively, the Commanders still looked like a respectable offense with backup Marcus Mariota. Mariota gained 239 total yards of offense and threw for two touchdowns. While Mariota's performance coming off the bench is impressive, it was one of the worst defenses in the league, so it may be hard to replicate.
For the Bears, who are coming off a bye, a win against the Commanders is a must-win, given how competitive the NFC North is. With that in mind, here are three keys to a Bears victory this week against the Commanders.
