The Chicago Blackhawks are moved on from Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane. Neither of those two legends is going to wear the Blackhawks sweater again.

As Chicago prepares for the Connor Bedard era, we are still waiting to see what happens with these two guys.

There are a few teams that make sense for both of them. Kane still has some offensive upside to bring to a team but he is recovering from hip surgery. He will sign either right before the season or a little bit after once he is recovered.

As for Toews, he announced that he isn’t retiring but he is taking some time away from hockey. Of course, that is very vague so we don’t know how long that will last.

If he does come back sometime during the 2023-24 season, one of these three teams makes the most sense:

1. Edmonton Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers would have amazing center depth with Jonathan Toews.

The Edmonton Oilers are a team that makes sense for both Toews and Kane. However, for Toews specifically, he’d bring tons of things to that team that they need.

Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl are the best 1-2 center punch in the NHL so adding Jonathan Toews behind them would be awesome.

They wouldn’t need a single point from him for him to do his job. Of course, he has tons of skills so he would score too but having that type of two-way presence on this Edmonton team makes them that much better.

The Oilers are going to be an elite team in the Western Conference but Toews would make them even better.
