The Chicago Blackhawks are in Connor Bedard mode. They are hoping that he lives up to the hype that suggests that he could be one of the best players in the history of the league.

They are coming off an era that saw them draft and develop some of the best players that ever played for them. That includes Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane.

The Hawks traded Kane on an expiring contract to the New York Rangers this past season so he can take a run at the cup. Kane and the Rangers lost to the New Jersey Devils in the first round.

Chicago also made it clear that Jonathan Toews won’t be back next year as his identical contract is expiring as well. That left the future for both of them to be uncertain.

The Chicago Blackhawks will always miss Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane.

Now, we have to wait and see what they decide to do. Certain factors are going to play into things for them.

For Toews, he announced on Thursday that he is not retiring but is taking some time away from the game. That means he is making sure his health is in order and will likely sign with a contender later in the season.

As for Patrick Kane, he is currently recovering from hip surgery and will sign either closer to the season or a little after it starts when he is healthy.

Both of these guys have some good hockey left to give, especially if it is to a contending team. Choosing their next team wisely is going to be something they make sure to do.

They should both sign with the Edmonton Oilers for one year on team-friendly deals. If they did, that team would have a legit chance to win the Stanley Cup.

Edmonton already has a chance to win the Stanley Cup. They have the best player in the world and his name is Connor McDavid. Their second-best player is also a top-five NHL player, Leon Draisaitl.

With other stars there on offense like Zach Hyman, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and Evander Kane, they are loaded up front.

Their defense is good but it could use some help as well. That is something they are sure to address around the trade deadline if they can afford it.

Toews would line up as their third-line center behind McDavid and Daisaitl. Kane would fit in as a right-wing somewhere in their top six. McDavid would probably have the first crack at him.

Both of these guys bring tons of experience that would help this Edmonton team when things get hard in the playoffs. They’d also make some hockey magic out there during the regular season and it would be must-see TV.
