Lots of sacks

Earlier in the week, we identified a few “x-factors” for the Chicago Bears against the Lions. One such player was Robert Quinn, who stands to benefit greatly from playing opposite Khalil Mack and vice versa.

Gone are the days when teams could double team Mack without fear of reprisal on the opposite end of the line. Quinn’s presence instantly demands the offensive line’s attention. When those two are on the field at the same time, they will see many more one-on-ones than they are used to.

Now add to that a healthy Akiem Hicks in the middle of the line, along with a rejuvenated Roquan Smith off the blitz, and the Bears pass rush could spell trouble all day for the Lions.

Another player fans should be eager to see is rookie Trevis Gipson, whose athleticism alone is going to net him a handful of sacks this year.

All in all, the Bears will finish the game on Sunday with at least five sacks of the quarterback. Unfortunately for Matthew Stafford, he’ll be spending most of the day on his back, where it becomes exponentially more difficult to complete a pass.
