Who are some “x-factors” for the Chicago Bears?

The Chicago Bears will open up the 2020 season this Sunday when they travel to Ford Field to take on the Detroit Lions. After an offseason that felt like it lasted forever — mainly due to the impacts of COVID-19 — football is so close to being back.

It will feel great to get back to some level of normalcy as our Sundays are once again spent gathering in our living rooms to cheer on the Monsters of the Midway.

The much anticipated season debut will give fans their first chance to cast their eyes on a reported “improved” Mitchell Trubisky. After an abbreviated training camp where the incumbent battled veteran Nick Foles, the Bears officially named Trubisky their starter.

The former No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft will get one final shot at proving he is a capable quarterback in the league and quite frankly, may be auditioning for a new team in 2021.

Consequently, it would seem like Trubisky would be an obvious choice to be considered an “x-factor” in the upcoming game. While he is certainly one, quarterbacks are always technically “x-factors.” Generally, the team goes as the quarterback goes.

However, even if tTrubisky plays well, he will still need others around him to step up. He is not the type of quarterback who can consistently be the reason his team wins.
