Chicago Bears will tread lightly with Trubisky

Bold prediction number two is really just the converse of bold prediction number one. If bold prediction number one states the Bears will run more, then logically, they will pass the ball less.

To that end, bold prediction number two is that Trubisky will throw the ball fewer than 25 times on Sunday. That may not seem that bold but consider this — in 2019 he did that only three times.

The first time was against Minnesota where he was injured on the first series of the game. The second time was against the Philadelphia Eagles in what was perhaps his worst game of the season. However, the final time was ironically against — you guessed it — the Detroit Lions. In Week 10, he completed 16 of just 23 passes for a mere 173 yards but threw for three touchdowns in the process.

That is the type of game they will look for Trubisky to have. Limit the throws, and therefore, limit the mistakes. Lean heavily on the run game and defense and hope that when the clock expires, they have more points than their opponents. It may not be the kind of offense Nagy wants to run, but it is likely the one they have to run if they will have any success this year.
