2. Wes Unseld Jr., Denver Nuggets

What an absolute battle of a series Wes Unseld Jr. and his Denver Nuggets escaped from. The seven games with Donovan Mitchell and his Utah Jazz were home to one of the better playoff series in recent memory — one that came down to the final 15 seconds. It was truly a fight to the finish.

More from Da Windy City

Unseld has an intriguing connection to the Bulls, who brought over Karnisovas from Denver. Having a relationship with the Bulls’ new Vice President will certainly play a part in his chances of landing the head coaching job in Chicago.

We have touched on Unseld a bit in the last month or so, and his story is a great one. In short, he never really planned on following in his father’s footsteps. He didn’t think he’d be involved in the NBA until he finally took a gig under his dad and ended up working his way up.

Before he knew it, Unseld couldn’t leave the game — and fortunately for him, it’s about to pay off in a big way. He’s one of the best available candidates to get his shot at coaching a franchise.

The Nuggets are a prime example of what great drafting and player development can lead to, and Unseld has seen it first hand. Between Karnisovas finding Nikola Jokic in the second round and seeing Jamaal Murray take some huge steps over the last two years, Denver is an organization the Bulls cannot go wrong in taking from.
