Chicago Bears 2020 NFL Mock Draft: A Christmas List
By Ryan Heckman
One of the areas the Bears have to improve this offseason is at guard. With Kyle Long having likely already started his last game for the Bears, they have to find a replacement. In the fifth round, Ben Bredeson out of Michigan could be a gem and a potential replacement for Long.
Bredeson possesses ideal size for an NFL guard at 6-foot-5 and 325 pounds, and plays real strong. One of his best traits is the fact that Bredeson knows how to block well within a zone scheme.
The Bears need someone who can move well at the guard position, especially if Nagy wants to continue to run a lot of RPO type of plays and use pre-snap movement on pitches and end-arounds. Bredeseon would give them just that, as he moves fluidly from his hips.
The one big knock on his game is pad level. If he can fix that, Bredeson will be just fine as a pro and could have a long career, just like his long, experienced college career at Michigan (33 starts).
