Chicago Bears 2020 NFL Mock Draft: A Christmas List
By Ryan Heckman
It still seems odd writing that the Bears need help at edge rusher when they have a guy like Khalil Mack, but it is the truth. Leonard Floyd may not be back after 2020 and Chicago needs depth at the position, badly.
For a while, they have had some warm bodies who can come in and fill in, but outside of Aaron Lynch in 2018, they haven’t had a third guy who can come in and be above average and effective. This year, it has been apparent that the Bears need more help.
Jonathan Garvin could be someone the Bears look at later in the draft. At pick no. 177, Garvin would be a great pick.
What scouts really like about Garvin is his long frame. He has a much longer lower frame than most, as well as long arms. Garvin can cover a lot of ground much quicker than a lot of guys, and it’s not even due to speed. In fact, Garvin doesn’t have elite speed at his position, but his frame makes him easy to use.
This year, Garvin had a down season in comparison to 2018, which was his best campaign. In 2019, Garvin finished with 37 tackles, 9.0 for loss and 5.0 sacks. He did force a pair of fumbles.
In 2018, Garvin totaled 60 tackles including 17.0 for a loss and 5.5 sacks, while defending five passes, recovering two fumbles and scoring a defensive touchdown.
Other names on the list at pick no. 177:
Reggie Floyd, S, Virginia Tech
Patrick Queen, LB, LSU
Matthew Peart, OL, UConn
Eric Stokes, CB, Georgia
Anthony Gordon, QB, Washington State
