3. We’re not Detroit Lions fans

I should preface this by saying that, if the Bears lose today, this will all look hilarious on my part.

If you’re on social media, especially Twitter, you know and love the banter that goes on between NFC North fans. Hopefully, you’re never part of the times when it gets out of hand. But, a little trash talk makes things interesting — especially in the offseason.

Boy, us Bears fans were high and mighty all offseason long, weren’t we? All the words we spoke, typed and tweeted about being atop the division and Super Bowl favorites — yikes. Things haven’t turned out the way we wanted them to.

But, at least we’re not Detroit Lions fans.

I don’t have to go into just how bad the Lions franchise has historically been. The obvious points include the fact that two legendary players, Calvin Johnson and Barry Sanders, retired early from this team. Whether or not it was because they couldn’t handle losing anymore — well, that’s up for debate I suppose.

The Lions actually improved over the offseason, and it was tough to argue that they hadn’t. But, with injuries to guys like Kerryon Johnson and Matthew Stafford, this season is wasted for Detroit. It’ll be another lost season for the Lions and their fans, and by comparison, the Bears’ outlook seems far brighter.

If you’re having a tough time with the Bears season, just be thankful you’re not a Lions fan. It’s that simple.
