No. 4: Mathematically, the Bears aren’t dead yet

At 5-6, you would think the season is practically over. Hey, it might be. But, the math says otherwise. The folks over at the New York Times have done us a solid and created a simulator which predicts the Bears’ playoff chances based on picking every single one of the games left of the 2019 season.

If you were to simply select wins for the Bears in their remaining five games, their playoff chances sit at roughly 59 percent.

Now, logic will tell you that the Bears have absolutely zero shot at making that happen. But, as we love to do, we have hope until there is none. We are all fans, right? If you’re like me, 99 percent of you thinks the season is over. But, there’s that small part that isn’t ready to throw in the towel completely.

Crazier things have happened, as they say.

But, like the Bears will do, we’ve got to take this one game at a time, because the remaining schedule is not kind. After today’s Thanksgiving tilt against the Lions, the Bears will then host the Cowboys in primetime on Thursday Night Football.

Next. Bears: Anthony Gordon should be team's next QB. dark

Then, it’s a road trip to Green Bay, a home game against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, followed by a Week 17 matchup in the Twin Cities. It’s a brutal ending to the season, but again, the math checks out. The Bears simply have to take it a week at a time.
