Joe Looney, Guard/Center, Dallas Cowboys

One of the biggest problems right now, as stated previously, is the Bears’ inability to get anything going on the ground. The offensive line has been surprisingly bad all around, and some wonder if there will be another switch between James Daniels and Cody Whitehair.

Another move that could be coming is the benching of veteran guard Kyle Long. The fan favorite has looked far less than himself this year, and it might just be time to move on from the former Oregon product.

If Long were to be benched, Rashaad Coward would be the likely replacement. Another option would be bringing up Alex Bars from the practice squad, who chose to stay with Chicago rather than signing with the New England Patriots.

Even so, Chicago could look to add depth up front with Joe Looney. The Dallas Cowboys saw Looney fill in nicely last year for starting center Travis Frederick, therefore his trade value is quite high. Any time you can play well on the Cowboys offensive line as of late, you’re bound to get noticed. That’s notoriously one of the better lines in football.

Would the Bears be willing to part with a pick for Looney, before trying out Coward or Bars? I’m not so sure. But, Looney is worth looking into either way.
