Chicago Bears: 5 players on trade block to consider buying
By Ryan Heckman
Tyler Eifert, Tight End, Cincinnati Bengals
Another position of weakness which the Bears should address, at least by next year’s NFL Draft, is at the tight end spot. Starter Trey Burton looks to finally be coming back into a full-time role, but health has been a question mark in the past.
Adam Shaheen and Ben Braunecker have flashed here and there, but neither have proven to become viable options on a consistent basis.
Within this offense, the Bears need a tight end who can be a threat as a pass catcher. When healthy, that’s exactly what Tyler Eifert is.
The Cincinnati Bengals are going nowhere in a hurry, and Eifert’s history with injuries could make him easier to move on from. Eifert has looked good this year, but Andy Dalton hasn’t always been able to get him the ball. If added to the Bears, he’d present an immediate threat in the passing game. The Bears would also be able to utilize Burton in more of a creative way with Eifert stretching the field on occasion.
Likely cost to acquire Eifert: Sixth or Seventh Round Pick
