Chicago Bears: 4 Broncos playmakers who must be stopped
By Ryan Heckman
Outside Linebacker Bradley Chubb
When you look at the Broncos front seven, there is one glaring similarity to the Bears’ unit. Both teams have a pair of talented pass rushers, with one being in the elite category.
Any offense looking to keep the Bears defense at bay has to focus, first and foremost, on containing Khalil Mack. But, placing double or triple-teams on Mack opens the door for other pass rushers to get to the quarterback — like Leonard Floyd.
The Broncos defense is no different.
Priority no. 1 is going to be stopping Von Miller. That’s obvious. But, focusing on Miller is going to allow Bradley Chubb to have better matchups, especially if Fangio decides to run any stunts.
Chubb is no slouch, and he could greatly disrupt the Bears offense on Sunday afternoon. As a rookie last year, Chubb posted 12.0 sacks and a total of 21 quarterback hits, with a pair of forced fumbles as well.
It was obvious in Week 1 that the offense will struggle if Trubisky is uncomfortable. Whether it was the lack of preseason reps or simply a mental gap, Trubisky struggled to progress past his first read. Chubb is absolutely in line to try and force the same type of play from Mitch in Week 2.
