Wide Receiver Courtland Sutton

Last spring, my favorite receiver coming out of college was this guy right here. Courtland Sutton presented everything you wanted to see in a big-bodied, no. 1 receiver. For the Bears, a team that hadn’t yet addressed the receiver position, Sutton looked like a fine pick.

Of course, Pace went on to add plenty of talent to the receiver room. But, as a pure football fan, I still love Sutton.

With the departure of Demaryius Thomas, Sutton now has the chance to solidify himself as the true number one receiver in a group which still features Emmanuel Sanders and fellow second-year wideout DeSean Hamilton.

In Week 1, Sutton came alive early and often. Against the Raiders, he finished with seven receptions for 120 yards. He looked every bit of the number one guy the Broncos wanted him to become when they selected him in last year’s draft.

Next. Bears: Bold predictions for Broncos matchup. dark

It will likely be Kyle Fuller who is matched up on Sutton Sunday afternoon, and that will be a fun matchup to watch. Fuller has become a much more physical corner over his career, and he’ll need to be with how big and strong Sutton is. If the Bears can stop Sutton and force others to step up, that will be taking away a major weapon and increase the likelihood for Flacco to force a few throws.
