Chicago Bears: 4 Broncos playmakers who must be stopped
By Ryan Heckman
Tight End Noah Fant
This may surprise some folks, but I’m going with rookie tight end Noah Fant as a guy the Bears should keep an eye on. There are a couple of reasons.
First off, the very initial snap of the Broncos’ season last week against the Oakland Raiders saw Fant take a rushing attempt. Now, he was stopped for negative yardage due to a Raiders defender going unblocked. But, this just goes to show that Denver may try and get more creative than we think. Vic Fangio is no Sean McVay, but I’m sure he learned a thing or two about gadget plays from Matt Nagy.
Second, anybody who knows Joe Flacco or has seen him play, knows he loves throwing to the tight end position. If you played fantasy football a few years back, you know how valuable Dennis Pitta was in a PPR-scoring format.
Fant saw five targets on Monday night in his first regular season action as a pro. He only reeled in two of them for 29 yards, but those five targets are significant. Usually, it takes rookie tight ends a while to gain their footing and make an impact. However, seeing five targets from the get-go doesn’t surprise me coming from Flacco.
I can assure you the Broncos will want to get Fant involved, especially because of their lack of depth at the position. He’s by far the best option. Chicago’s linebackers need to ensure they keep him under wraps.
