3. Will Buster Skrine and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix prove doubters wrong?

All offseason long, we’ve seen the criticism of the Bears’ two main defensive free agent signings. Both cornerback Buster Skrine and safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix have their question marks, but Pace and Nagy saw them as great fits within this scheme.

First and foremost, the Bears are hoping Clinton-Dix’s injury isn’t too serious. If he is able to return for part of camp and the preseason, all eyes will be on him and the angles he takes in coverage. That’s been his biggest inconsistency. But, if he also comes up with some plays on the ball, the mouths will quiet.

For Skrine, it’s his physicality that’s gotten him in trouble. I’ll be watching for whether or not Pagano has the ability to calm him down just a hair, so he doesn’t offer the potential to get beat as often as he had been in the past.

Skrine’s aggressiveness is a plus within this Bears defense, without a doubt. It can be used for a positive impact, especially within the run game. But, will he be able to put good film together over the preseason after having a (hopefully) strong camp learning and meshing with his new teammates?
