Chicago Bears: Potential free agents from Denver Broncos

4) OG Max Garcia
In the coming weeks, the Bears could decide that there are some players on the offensive line that will not be back for the 2019 season. While veteran Kyle Long is one name that has been floated around as being a candidate to get cut this offseason, he’s officially returning on a restructured deal.
Unfortunately, Guard is one of the weaker spots on the Bears. After Kyle Long went down last season, the entire offensive line seemed to take a step back. As for shoring up Guard depth, the team isn’t likely to look in the draft, due to the fact that they will use limited draft capital to fill in other needs on the roster. This means that the best bet for the Bears to find a starter on the offensive line will be in free agency.
There are multiple reasons as to why a guy like Max Garcia makes sense for the Bears. A fourth-round pick in 2015, Garcia has started 41 of 56 regular season games. For the most part, he’s been healthy, despite his 2018 season ending with an injury.
Second, Garcia is a guy the Bears will bring in and sign to a cheap contract. Should this happen, he’ll mostly just be a training camp body. Since he’ll need to work to prove that he deserves a spot on the 53-man roster, he could end up being a valuable addition as a second or third-string player. He’s the perfect type of guy the Bears could bring in, try out, and not lose much if they aren’t satisfied with him.
At this point, it would seem that Garcia is likely to receive a one or two-year deal with two-million dollars. This is a reasonable contract for a player who is coming off an injury and is looking to prove himself and potentially earn a more lucrative contract in 2020.
