A former first-round pick, Bradley Roby has been one of the more underrated cornerbacks in the NFL over the last few years. While Denver will likely look to retain their top free agent this offseason, it will take tons of convincing to do so.

As Denver continues their roster purge, it’s difficult to see Roby returning. After making $8.5 million dollars in 2018, the only reason that he won’t be back with the Broncos is due to financial reasons.

The Bears invested big money into the cornerback position last offseason, giving Kyle Fuller and Prince Amukamara nice paydays, but Roby is a guy to keep an eye on. If the Bears are unable to retain Bryce Callahan, then Roby could be a player that ends up being a fine replacement

Roby isn’t a guy who is a ballhawk, however, one thing that he does incredibly well is breakup passes. With 12 in 2018 and a total of 60 since entering the league in 2014, Roby is a defender who would fit in with the Bears.

Unless a team sees starting potential in him, Roby is likely going to move back inside in 2019 and play the nickel position. While his annual salary of $8.5 million seems like a price tag that is too high for the Bears, Ryan Pace has figured out ways to structure contracts in such a way where if things don’t work out, then the Bears can get out of them with little to no trouble.

At just 27 years old, it’s clear that Roby has a bright future in the NFL. He still has room for improvement but is a bona fide nickel cornerback who is also an ace on special teams. If he hits the open market, then the Bears should come calling.
