1. Bears trade Jordan Howard for draft capital

Why don’t we start things off with a bang? It’s a topic that has been red-hot amongst Bears fans since last offseason, almost from the day after they hired Nagy as head coach. The narrative was written immediately.

Jordan Howard doesn’t fit this offense.”

Now, I tend to disagree a little bit. But, I can also see both sides of the argument. Howard is a very capable back. He can handle the bulk of carries in any offense. That makes him a rare breed in today’s NFL.

But, today’s NFL features a lot more speed, movement and RPO-type of play calling. That’s not necessarily Howard’s wheelhouse.

To go along with the fact that the Bears may try and find someone more suitable for the offense, they also need additional draft capital. Following trades for Khalil Mack and Anthony Miller, the Bears were left without picks in the first two rounds of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Regardless of whether or not they decide to move Howard, I would say both trades were well-worth the spending.

However, it is what it is: I say the Bears move on from Howard — and I’ll be sad to see him go.
