Outside Linebacker Kylie Fitts

This is absolute crazy talk, right? How could a 2018 NFL Draft pick be in danger of being cut? Well, that’s kind of where we find Kylie Fitts at the moment. Due to the edge rusher being such a horrific question mark at this point, Fitts is in the thick of a crowded room.

At times, Fitts has showed unbelievable bend and speed off the edge this preseason. He has looked like an absolute steal on a few individual plays. On others, it’s been clear he needs quite a bit more time to develop.

Some might think Fitts doesn’t belong in the NFL just yet, while others believe he is a great practice squad player who could develop over the right amount of time. Truthfully, I think he should be on the final 53-man roster.

The flashes I’ve seen from Fitts are enough to warrant a spot, in my opinion. He might need some polishing, but Fitts has a lot of upside. Hopefully, he gets a bit of run against the Bills and flashes exactly that.

If he doesn’t play for an extended period of time, that might be a good sign. Watch for just how long Fitts is on the field Thursday night, because that will be very telling as to how the Bears’ coaching staff feels about him.
