Cornerback Doran Grant

One guy who seems to have an inside track on one of the very last roster spots on the Bears is veteran cornerback Doran Grant. He has seen extended playing time over the last couple of preseason games and could end up making an impact on special teams, if he is to squeeze into one of those last remaining spots.

In comparison to a guy like Toliver, Grant has looked a bit more consistent. He has also been beat once or twice, but Grant’s tackling has been much more sure than Toliver’s. If Grant is going to make the roster, though, he’s not only going to have to beat out Toliver, but also Joseph.

I don’t see all three of those players making the roster, and maybe even just one of them does. With Kyle Fuller, Prince Amukamara, Bryce Callahan and Cre’von LeBlanc looking like the only locks, it’ll be interesting to see who the Bears decide to plug into those last two spots — assuming they keep six cornerbacks.

Next. Bears must cut these 5 players. dark

Do either of Marcus Cooper or Sherrick McManis stick around? A case could be made for both of them to get the boot as well. If all goes according to plan, I’d put Grant on the roster along with Joseph, leaving Toliver on the outside looking in at potentially the practice squad.
