Spending on Capela makes more sense than LaVine

One of the best parts about Capela is that you know you’re going to get a guy who continues to try and get better. He not only impacts a game early and often, but he’s constantly working to try and impact it at a higher level. In his four seasons, Capela’s averages have improved in nearly every major area: Field goal percentage, free throw percentage, points, rebounds and blocks.

When you look at the decisions the Bulls have to make this offseason, none of them are as polarizing as the choice they have regarding Zach LaVine. Right now, the reports have the Bulls ready to match any offer.

Hold up. Even a max offer? Yikes.

LaVine is no where near the level of a max player. We’ve covered this already. If you want proof, go check out our most recent assessment of the LaVine situation.

The fact of the matter is, if it were to come down to spending on one of these two guys, it’s Capela — hands down. Who affects the game more? That’s a simple answer.

Shooting guards aren’t that difficult to find if you’re looking for someone who takes far too many shots and has a tough time defending at a high level. If that’s what you’re looking for, then LaVine is your guy. If not, I’d suggest looking elsewhere.

It might sound weird, but Capela is much more worthy of a max offer than LaVine. If the Bulls want to get serious about this rebuild, they better be ready to spend. They won’t land one of the superstar names, so Capela is one of the few they might want to focus on.
