Markkanen and Capela a match made in heaven

How much more of a polar opposite could Lauri Markkanen be from Capela? Sometimes that might not work well, but I think these two could be fun to watch. Capela is a true center, and like I said, he doesn’t spend much time outside the arc.

Markkanen is a different story. The 2017 first-round pick is a true stretch four who can shoot the lights out on any given night. With the right pieces around him to take just a bit of pressure off, Markkanen could really break out.

Capela’s offensive game might not be diverse, but it’s effective. Shooting over 65 percent from the field last year, Capela is someone who finishes easily at the hoop and, at times, showed a little mid-range touch.

One of the most ideal scenarios this offseason, if you ask me, is if the Bulls end up with Michael Porter Jr. at no. 7 and Capela via free agency. If you can picture Capela, Markkanen and Porter on the floor at the same time, it’s a beautiful thing. I am dreaming at this point, but if the stars align, that’s a perfect storm.

Lastly, Markkanen and Capela are both very solid rebounders. Between the two of them last year, they averaged 19.3 boards per game. Robin Lopez, for example, averaged 4.5 rebounds per game compared to Capela’s 10.8 — that’s a huge difference.

Capela is worth the money. He’s worth every bit of it. If the Bulls want to accelerate this rebuild, Capela needs to be at the forefront of their minds this summer. Go after him and go after him hard — that’s what I’d like to see.
