Small Forward Michael Porter Jr., Mizzou

Everybody’s favorite prospect seems to be Michael Porter Jr. out of MIssouri — at least, Bulls fans. It is for good reason too, as Porter presents the Bulls with one of the highest ceilings they have seen in recent drafts.

Porter is a 6-foot-10 small forward who can score in multiple ways and is a straight up problem when healthy. The problem that has plagued Porter, though, is just that — his health.

He struggled with back issues even before Mizzou, but last year in his freshman season with the Tigers, Porter suffered yet another back injury. The injury kept him out for nearly the entire season, leaving just a handful of games as a sample size for NBA scouts.

Now, what the kid did in high school speaks volumes. He wasn’t just your average high school superstar. He absolutely obliterated any team he faced. It was enough to put his name in the conversation as a no. 1 overall pick in the NBA.

At this point, if Porter is there at no. 7, the Bulls would have nothing else to lose. Having the opportunity to snag a potential star would be far too great to pass up. Giving LaVine another athletic and exciting wing to play alongside would do wonders for the both of them.

I don’t see Porter getting out of the top six picks, unfortunately, so something beyond wishing and hoping may have to happen.
