Point Guard Trae Young, Oklahoma

Here at Da Windy City, we love Trae Young. The potential of snagging a point guard who is not only a prolific scorer, but phenomenal at setting his teammates up, is quite intriguing. In his 2017-2018 campaign at Oklahoma, Young put up ridiculous averages of 27.4 points, 8.7 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game.

Young can score with the best of them, and one of the more underrated aspects of his game is the fact that he can get to the free throw line consistently. He averaged over eight trips to the charity stripe per game last year, finishing at 86 percent from there.

Young takes a lot of shots, but the great thing about him is that he doesn’t get discouraged. He is one of those pure scorers who can put the ball in the basket even after having a tough night. Young shot 36 percent from three-point range last season and 42 percent overall. While those numbers might not look fantastic, remember, it was done on a pretty average Oklahoma team. Young was the top option offensively, and he knew it.

If he were to come to Chicago, Young wouldn’t have to be the number one scoring option. The Bulls might just have a couple of second options without a true no. 1 threat, which is fine for now as a rebuilding team. He would be asked to create, and then score. Once again, if Young comes to Chicago, what happens with Dunn? It creates an interesting situation, that’s for sure. But, the object at the moment is to become a better basketball team, regardless of position.
