The White Sox have taken two of three against the Dodgers, marking yet another series victory under their belt as they turn the expectations for the season completely on their head. The White Sox have now won eight consecutive home series', and took two of three from the Braves and Dodgers each, respectively.

Chicago's south siders had moderate expectations when this season launched, but early success, followed by a June hot streak has propelled the White Sox into the national spotlight. The MLB's own X.com account even tweeted about it. Since May 9th, the White Sox own the best record in the American league with 21-11. That's not easy to do.

The thing that's most impressive about this stretch is the caliber of teams the White Sox are beating. Taking a series from the Braves is difficult enough, but following it up by winning another against the Dodgers sends a much stronger message. These aren't the victories of a team simply taking advantage of a soft schedule. They're the victories of a club proving it can stand toe-to-toe with some of baseball's best, and that's a large reason why Chicago continues to hold a narrow lead atop the AL Central.

With the Guardians hot on the White Sox tail, it's difficult to say who will be on top when the two AL Central titans clash with one another. The All-Star break may be right around the corner, and the White Sox are doing everything they can to remain in first place.

Though the season may hold many more questions, the White Sox have continued to find success where nobody expected it. If the White Sox are going to continue to hold back Cleveland and ensure they hold the lead going into the break, it's imperative that they pull ahead now. Having a buffer zone can make all of the difference when it comes to momentum on the other side of the break.

The White Sox have spent the last month proving their success is no fluke. If they can maintain this pace through the All-Star break, the rest of the American League may have no choice but to start viewing them as a legitimate contender rather than a surprise story.
