The White Sox continue to impress after another box checked in the win column, this time against the Dodgers. With this win, the White Sox hold their narrow lead on top of the AL Central with the Guardians hot on their tails. At present, a mere 0.5 games separates the two division rivals. The White Sox are now routinely beating top contending teams and showing that they should be taken seriously.

The White Sox have now won eleven of their last fifteen games. They took two of three from Atlanta before the final game of the series was postponed for August due to weather. Teams that wish to be competitive normally do so through series wins, and Chicago is doing exactly that.

The Schedule Isn't Getting Any Easier

With the Braves behind them, the White Sox have moved on to take on the Dodgers, but the tough games don't stop there. After the Dodgers leave Chicago, the White Sox depart for a six game road trip with stops in New York and Detroit. That's when Cleveland comes to Chicago.

If both teams can keep up their winning ways, the matchup of Cleveland and Chicago is sure to be a showdown for the AL Central. Despite outside pressure, both of these teams have kept the margin within a half game of each other. It's the reason the last few wins from the White Sox have felt so magnified. They've almost had a playoff-like atmosphere to them, regardless of the fact that it's mid-June.

In the face of the hype, it's easy to not see or pay attention to flaws. However the White Sox may be on the rise, it absolutely shouldn't sway manager Will Venable from the mission of the growth of this team. The White Sox are 14-20 on the road, and they have a six-game stretch against good competition. It will be difficult for the team to hold their lead when the Guardians come to Chicago. The Guardians are better on the road than they are at home.

The White Sox have done all they can against a difficult stretch of opponents, and it's been no small feat. Taking a series win away from the big bad Braves should serve as a benchmark for the astonishing climb this team has undertaken. With Cleveland continuing to apply pressure, the White Sox have a tough road ahead. But it's a good problem to have for a team that entered the season with modest expectations.
