Now that the Chicago Bears are a week into training camp, there are some storylines that are starting to catch on. What are some bold predictions that might throw a wrench in the way things are trending?

Rome Odunze is the player to watch in the preseason

The talk throughout training camp is that Luther Burden is clearly the top wide receiver on the team. The question with Odunze is whether he is third in the pecking order behind tight end Colston Loveland. However, when the preseason comes, the talk will be all about Odunze as the potential top threat. He is going to make a couple of splash plays that change the perception.

Theo Benedet enters left tackle competition

The left tackle competition has seemingly added a new name every week. Why not one more? Braxton Jones was the first name to get a look with the first-team. Jedrick Wills has mostly been the next name to mix in. However, the team recently gave former draft pick Kiran Amegadjie a chance with the starters

Benedet has mostly played the right side, but he started for the team last year. Now, he gets another chance in training camp.

Kyler Gordon does not play in the preseason

This is leaning away from a bold prediction and more into the reality. We do not quite know why Kyler Gordon is on the Physically Unable to Perform list. However, we do know that head coach Ben Johnson and General Manager Ryan Poles are not happy about it. The vibes around those two tell us that Gordon might not return anytime soon, or even at all, to play for this staff. It would be surprising, but Gordon might not see the field for the Bears again.

D’Marco Jackson makes TJ Edwards look expendable

The team has been easing Edwards back into the mix this offseason. However, they signed Devin Bush in free agency, and last year they saw big steps from Jackson. If Jackson looks good in the preseason, there will be chatter that these are the top two linebackers. The names that came before Dennis Allen are being pushed out.

Zavion Thomas brings Velus Jones vibes to preseason

Thomas has been the talk of training camp, with everyone excited to see how the team will use him. However, his college career is more similar to Velus Jones than Devin Hester. The preseason might reveal that all of the hype was just smoke.
