The Chicago Bears should have an open mind when it comes to making a final roster addition ahead of training camp. Defending the NFC North is going to be far from easy with both the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions heading into the summer expecting to be in division contention. This leaves room to wonder if the Bears might add one final piece to the current roster ahead of the 2026 season.
Looking at possible fits as well as the team's current roster, five options become clear as pieces that could have an impact in the locker room, on the field, or both. Starting with a veteran who is mulling retirement despite still having productive seasons left in the tank.
1. Joey Bosa
Bosa debating whether or not he is going to continue playing this offseason came as a bit of a surprise. One that Ben Johnson has dealt with before, talking Case Keenum out of retirement a season ago, and the quarterback is now returning for a second season with the franchise. Bosa would be a great addition to Chicago's pass-rushing group if the veteran can be talked into a return for a contender with a clear starting role up for grabs.
2. Bobby Wagner
Would Wagner take on a lesser role in a potential player/coach signing? The Super Bowl champion is incredibly well respected and remains a physical force on the inside. However, there is no longer the needed speed to hold up in coverage and be an every-down option. Still, there is great potential value in having Wagner's eyes on the sideline and coming in as a rotational piece.
3. Tyreek Hill
Chicago's current core of receivers is incredibly exciting, but there is no player with the resume of Hill. What makes this possible addition so exciting is the idea of adding Hill as a long-term investment, understanding that, coming off a serious injury, the receiver is unlikely to be ready in the first weeks of the season. If your current depth at the position pans out as expected, you either can pivot away from Hill or embrace having the league's most talented rotation at the position.
4. Von Miller
The argument here is more about what Miller brings to your young pass-rushing core and less about expected on-field production. The veteran is a two-time Super Bowl champion and put together one of the most dominant runs by an edge rusher the league has seen. Add in the handful of sacks Miller offers at this stage of his career, and the signing is at least worth exploring.
